Artists Residency ArteSumapaz, Colombia

Beginning my residency in the Colombian mountains with Fundación ArteSumapaz, an arts and culture center located in San Bernardo, Cundinamarca, Colombia.  A unique setting embedded in natural beauty that includes projects focusing on organic agriculture, reforestation, and intentional community. Something I seek out in my freelance practice is to be surrounded by supportive, creative and varied community of like minded people. Given the right context, environment my intention is to make interesting work happen, work that i am excited about again - the mantra here is Trust the Process - and what a better way to start than from here - More details about these initiatives and get a real taste of this magical place - https://artesumapaz.org @arteSumapaz

🟡🔺🔷The Shape of Illustration 🔷🔺🟡

The Shape of Illustration - Exploring what shapes the illustrators of today is a wonderful collaboration between illustration students @ncadillustration and illustrators @illustratorsireland. A huge thanks and what a truly brilliant portrait by the very talented Laoise FitzGerald who is a second year student at NCAD. Have a look at her portfolio @laoisgang_illustrations

Sketchbook Location Drawings

Getting back to my love of location /reportage illustration of Dublin views - this one scenic views of Dublin mountains- nothing quite like the fresh air and energy of drawing in situ with the wind and the rain adding to the image!

Setting up for Show - 'Talking a Line for A walk in Athens' with opening 'A Birdseye View' - Christina Paizanis

A Birdseye View is a choreographed piece as a bird, not a drone would view Athens, with precision. Honing in on the dichotomy of ancient versus modern life; the culture, the cafes, the clubs, the narrow streets with vendors selling their wares, the museums, the posh, and the basic living styles living in harmony in one city with a central sun the Acropolis. This is Athens through interpretive dance.
