Illustration Workshop
Loved working with these amazing little artists drawing buildings of Dublin city. Lots of energy and beautiful line drawings of the cityscape. We started with talking about what makes Dublin stand out from other cities and them focused on the architecture. Looking at different images we started drawing and collaging different elements to make a piece based on the theme of Love my City and what that can look like. This was a 2 hour workshop that we could make the next stage into an animated GIF and all illustrated by these guys :))

Studio space
My studio wall with a mix of my work, notes and artist’s/illustrator’s work i love to look at, a reminder that the bar is high and motivation to keep making new drawings and trying out new ideas. This is a changing wall so always something interesting to see:)
Dublin Street Lamps
Love bringing my illustrations to life with Photoshop GIFS- simple change of colour can be so effective & now to really give it atmosphere add audio. Next idea is to make a stop motion animation of City Life- so much to draw inspiration from in the urban landscape and a chance to make some interesting work.
Process
Drawing is the process of taking a line for a walk… Such a great description, who said that again? In this piece I used lots different line weights, textures and colours to make something that I wanted to look at-the interest has to start with how I am engaged in the piece before I can make it interesting for my client/audience. Its like energy, it has to be something I can work with at the beginning and if I find myself getting bored I scarp it and think of another idea, start again…
City Life
Over the past 12 months a selection of location drawings from Dublin inner city and one from New York at the bottom rights. Its all about the style baby! I’m interested in expressive use of line, splash/wash of colours and honing my skills all the time through the craft of drawing. Creating a narrative a snap shot of life.
Cork Colour
So beautiful this intense colour of rape seed fields in Cork-love this place!
Dreamland badges for Stereohype
This started out as a random doodle that I scanned and digitally coloured -mine is the swirly multi coloured badge. Love this on black or denim jackets. It also comes in a beautiful print at Stereohype https://www.stereohype.com/860__eva-kelly
Giclee printed book Everyone, Everywhere, Everyday
This was a project for my MA Illustration and charts the beginning of ideas to the actual physical piece https://evakellyblog.wordpress.com Thank you to the wonderful tutor Barbara Brownie and all the pointers along the way that made such an impact. Having done a degree in Visual Communications (Vis Com) what I really wanted to do was draw the world and everything that interested me in it-people, places, ideas- which is what I put into my book mixing hand crafted techniques with digital.
